Patient-Centric Technology in Clinical Trials: A Recap

May 20, 2019 Kate Mikus

Every day, clinical trials both begin and enter new phases. While sponsors are optimistic about furthering research and finding cures for various diseases, one thing remains the same: clinical trials couldn’t exist without the patients.

Patient-centricity is gaining more and more momentum in the life sciences industry and for good reason. Patients are individuals we cross paths with daily. They are our family members, friends and coworkers. They are the friendly waitress we see when eating out, they are also the ones who groom our pets. Therefore, it stands to reason that we need to play a part in making it easier for patients to participate in clinical trials, leading to better data and life-changing results.

In late April, CRF Bracket held their Patient-Centric Technology in Clinical Trials event in Cambridge, MA. The event featured speakers such as Vertex’s Head of Patient Recruitment, Kelly McKee and one of PharmaVOICE 100’s Most Inspirational People, Jeff Lee. In a morning filled with education and interaction, local life sciences professionals came together to learn more about Patient Engagement, and eConsent and eCOA technologies.

Kelly McKee gave the keynote address, speaking about How to Treat Patients as Customers. CRF Bracket’s T Hephner and Jeff Lee gave similarly compelling presentations on 3 Reasons Why Patient Engagement is a Secret Weapon in Clinical Trials and Driving Adoption & Challenges Holding It Back.

Overall, it was a successful day with attendees from various local pharmaceutical and life science companies.
